Oil Change in Burnaby, BC

The right oil for your engine, the right filter, and a look underneath while it is on the hoist. It is the cheapest appointment you will book all year and the one that catches the expensive problems early.

Why it matters here

Driving around here is hard on oil.

Cold winter starts, summer heat, hills and towing all shorten oil life. The interval on the sticker assumes an easier life than most Burnaby vehicles get.

Cold starts

Most engine wear happens in the first seconds after a cold start. Fresh oil of the correct weight gets up top faster.

Hills and heat

Climbing grades in summer heat pushes oil temperature up, and heat is what ages oil fastest.

Towing and hauling

Boats, trailers and loaded truck beds count as severe service. If that is your summer, your interval is shorter.

Short trips

Around-town driving never fully warms the oil, so moisture and fuel stay in it. Low mileage does not mean clean oil.

An oil light or low level

If the light comes on, stop driving and call. Consumption between changes is worth investigating rather than topping up forever.

Before a road trip

Fresh oil and a look underneath before you head out on the highway is twenty minutes well spent.

What the job involves

More than draining and filling.

The vehicle is already in the air, so the inspection costs you nothing extra and is where most of the value is.

The correct oil

Conventional, synthetic blend or full synthetic, in the grade your manufacturer specifies. Not whatever is in the bulk tank.

A new filter

Replaced every time. Reusing a filter with fresh oil defeats most of the point of changing it.

Fluid top-ups

Coolant, washer, power steering and brake fluid checked and topped as needed while we are under there.

A tire and pressure check

Tread depth and pressures on all four, set to the door placard. We are a tire shop, so this one we do properly.

An underbody look

Leaks, torn boots, worn belts, exhaust corrosion. We report what we see and flag what can safely wait.

A reminder you can use

An interval based on how you actually drive, not a generic number on a windshield sticker.

The M.A.P. promise

The oil change that does not become a list.

Everybody knows the routine: you book a cheap oil change and leave with a four-figure estimate. We are an authorized Motorist Assurance Program service centre, which means anything we recommend is sorted into required, suggested, or fine for now.

You will hear the word "fine" from us more than you expect to.

Oil change questions, answered

The things Burnaby drivers ask us.

Straight answers. If yours is not here, call the shop and ask.

How often should I change my oil?

Follow your manufacturer's interval as the baseline, then shorten it if you tow, idle a lot or drive mostly short trips. We will give you a number for your vehicle.

Do I need full synthetic?

If your manufacturer specifies it, yes. If they do not, it is a genuine choice and we will explain the trade-off rather than default you to the priciest option.

How long does it take?

Usually well under an hour. Book ahead and you can wait for it.

Do you take walk-ins?

We try to. Calling first means we can tell you honestly whether there is a bay free.

Will this void my new-vehicle warranty?

No. Servicing at an independent shop doesn't void your manufacturer warranty on its own. What matters is the correct spec oil and a dated, itemized record of the work, and we give you both.

My oil looks black. Is that bad?

Not by itself - detergents in modern oil hold soot in suspension, which is the oil working. Interval and level matter more than colour.
